What is this site for?

I see interesting things around me every day so I bought a digital camera to capture them and share with the world! This is also the best way to show my pictures to friends and relatives who keep asking me for them. Some of them live far away. Later on, I plan to add my portfolio and talk about what I'm working on, either professionally or in one of my pet projects.

What does lau-tze mean?

One of my interests is philosophy. lau-tze is a word play on my last name Lau, and on the name of the philosopher and founder of Taoism, Lao-Tze. []


What does "t dot o" mean?

t dot o  means T . O .  which means Toronto Ontario.


What tools do you use?

Canon PowerShot S110 Digital Elph for almost all the pictures. Read dpreview's S110 review. Photoshop 5 for touch ups and editing. Thotor 3 for shrinking pictures to thumbnails and 640x480s, and for generating the html pages that contain these thumbnails and pictures. NoteTab Light 4.9 for editing the generated pages and other pages. Mozilla and validator.w3.org for testing my code. I started by using MS Frontpage but it is not as powerful for editing multiple files, tends to add extra code that I don't want, and doesn't ensure compatibility with other browsers.


I'm having trouble with your site. Clicking on the thumbnails doesn't give me the larger pictures.

I've been told by people with Internet Explorer 5.0 that they cannot click on the thumbnails. I think that version has problems with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Microsoft has fixed that problem, so you need to update your browser to a newer version. If you don't want to do that, try moving your mouse to the bottom edge of the thumbnail and clicking.


When is the rest of the site going to be up?

I've only done about a week's work on it so that's why it's not finished. The other photo galleries should be coming up within a week or two but my stories and pages about my projects will take longer.
